Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hat Parade

The Hat Parade begins at 11am, followed by the Easter Egg Hunt at 11:30am. Children should wear their most creative, crazy, fun Easter hats, and bring a container to collect candy eggs. Prizes are awarded to the best hats in special “Easter” categories. Call 413.538.5039 for details. This program is free of charge and sponsored by the South Hadley Recreation Department. Don’t be late…the eggs go quickly!

Friday Cruise Nights
May 23 to September 5, 2014
Weekly, 5:30pm to dusk

Cruise Nights are free and open to the public. Stroll through the park and enjoy classic cars, DJ music, refreshments and the company of neighbors and friends. Plan to join us for supper—the menu includes hot dogs and hamburger, along with a variety of beverages (including beer) prepared by ‘celebrity chefs’ from local groups and organizations.

Proceeds from food sales help to support park improvements. Volunteers to assist with the food concession are always appreciated. Information: Bruce, Kmaro68@aol.com

5K Run to Remember

Memorial Day Community Picnic and Concert at the Park

Bring a picnic lunch and join neighbors and friends and help us celebrate the opening of the season. Activities are planned to begin after the Memorial Day Parade.

Free entertainment and activities for children 10 and under presented by the South Hadley Family Center (shfamilycenter.org). This annual series provides local families and day care providers with lovely child-focused musical events on Wednesday mornings during the month of July. In the event of inclement weather, concerts are moved indoors to the auditorium at South Hadley Town Hall, 116 Main Street. For information, contact the DPW at 413-538-5033.

Annual Big Rig Day
Thursday, August 7, 2014 (11am-1pm)
Co-sponsored with S.H.E.L.D.

Come see Big Rigs of all types (fire trucks, police cars, utility trucks, ambulances, and more)… climb into the cabs, ride the aerial ladder, and meet the people who operate these fascinating vehicles. This unique, free, kid-friendly event is co-sponsored by the South Hadley Electric Department.

Santa’s LandSanta at Buttery Brook Park

Photos with Santa are $5 (or, take your own)

An annual tradition. With the park dressed up with lights and displays, the whole family will enjoy a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot chocolate and cookies! Have a photo taken or take your own while your child visits with Santa (many people do both), then take a ride on Santa’s train through our lighted holiday wonderland!
